Entropy

Starting from the beginning, since the project of TEMPO (a study about heat transmission), the starting point of this project, I discovered my reluctance for doing studies and slow stuff, without seeing results and planning everything perfectly. Maybe this idea started from there, maybe even farther. But I finished that project wanting to do something funnier, something that makes me happy and joy. I started looking at bio mimics and things where I could see 3D printing, so I remembered the ant nest structures made by aluminium, and how it was apparently random, but organised by certain rules.

Eventually I realised that some of the things that I loved the most were things made by mistake or as product of my naiveness and lack of knowledge. How the lack of knowledge let me do and appreciate something that some professional sculptor would take as a mistake and failed artwork.

Some of the things that inspired me were some of the trials and mistakes of myself and of my classmates. How the trials about how much the machine and the clay could resist before falling down.

The last thing that inspired me was the trials and experiments, that I made in the laboratory, trying and playing with the 3D printer.

Since the start I saw the control and the chaos as an idea about I could talk somehow, how much control the ants about the way that they go through the earth, and how that apparently chaos makes them able to adapt to the surroundings and keep growing.

And a result, I ended up creating a set of sculptures that works together and also individually, in order to represent the control in our surroundings, and how even a machine that works almost totally based on the absolute control, can be uncontrollable.
