Copy-Echo
Each one of the class had a random image of different objects that we had to play with and create something different of what we were looking at.
Starting from here I began to draw the image one and again trying comprise the nature of his form and finished realising that it was not representing the picture, but the shadows of the objet basic of crossed lines that gave the optic effct to darken a zone and clear another.
Then, I focused my ideas into a way of represent the shadows of the image, through points, crossed lines or the acumulation of them.
At the moment of recreate the drawing in 3D, all of them were a way mor complex than I thought, and I had to choose thinking on the time that I had, and the materials that I could afford
Whichever idea I decided to go for asked me to get light and to be big If I decided to do the dots one, it could be abig puzzle of light bulbs(seems like dots), that would be visually united from certain position, creating the original picture
From the other hand, the linnes that creates the image aplying the same perspective illusion thanthe crossing and distance from the other lines previous one, would be too complex in the way of measurements, and the upper support to carry it to differetn places.
And the last was the most developed idea, starting from only a element, recreate a 3D figure which froma a certain point looks similar to the initial picture. using the same material to draw and create shadows by the visual distance. And as the ideas that I explained before, I wanted to do a effect of amess whithout apparent sense if you looked at them from other perspectives.
To name the project I began from the i¡main idea, the visual effect, the distorsion and the manipulation of the rality, so I started to think about it without too much succes.
Then I thought abut the main theme of the project, COPY, so I searched about artists and designers who made simmilar pieces to mine. One of those creators was Neil Dawson, known basically for its art pieces where he creates known figures with black metal lines, in surrealistic places and different scales. I found out that one of his most known pieces is “Echo”, which makes a reference to the distorsion of the sound, how we percibe the noises in certain spaces. Then I saw everythinc connected .
And the election of the language was the actual meaning of “eco” in Spanish, and I didn´t wanted more confusion in the name, so I decided to use the translation in English “echo”.
